Religious Education

Religious Education encompasses the faith formation of our entire parish community. Our children learn and grow in their faith, and adults endeavor to continue in this learning process throughout their lives. Our Religious Education Program for children at Santa Maria de la Paz is maintained by our Director of Evangelization & Family Catechesis. If parents need assistance or have questions, please contact Sr. Mary Gianna, Director of Evangelization & Family Catechesis by calling (505) 629-4212 or via e-mail at familylife@smdlp.org.

Religious Education Registration

Santa Maria de la Paz offers religious education beginning with Pre-K through 7th grade.  Children can start as young as 5 years of age.  We offer two sessions on Sundays:  8:45AM – 10:00AM or 11:00AM – 12:15PM.  The fee is $35 for the first child, $30 for the second, and so on.  Classes begin on Sunday, September 13th.  For religious education classes this year (2020-2021), the tentative plan is to meet online through online classrooms and then to transition to in-person classes as we are able.  More details to come.

Adult Enrichment
Requirements and more information will be published soon.

Fr. Daniel offers Adult Religious Education sessions on Tuesdays during the school year. The schedule includes four or more parent Units (on average) of six to seven weeks each.  Since our children do not learn in isolation, but rather with their families, we ask that parents attend one of these units over the course of the year in addition to helping their children with religious education at home, praying daily, and attending Mass regularly.  Click here for the 2019-20 Adult Religious Education schedule. The cost of each Unit is $10.00 and all classes are held at the Social Center at 6:00PM.  Pre-registration is not required.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Archdiocese of Santa Fe policy mandates that all volunteers attend the Abuse Awareness Training for Adults.  Click on SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING on our homepage to take the Abuse Awareness Training on-line.
